At Edmonton Foundation Repair, we specialize in excavation & waterproofing of foundation walls. When your house was being built, it most likely had a damproofing spray applied. It's applied to the exterior, and sometimes it's also applied to the interior. Unfortunately, it's a very low performance, minimum requirement in the Alberta Building Code and is intended to slow (but not stop) water infiltration. This can lead to basement leakage. Cracks and other defects in the wall can contribute to leakage. We apply only premium quality elastomeric waterproofing to foundation walls, which will stop water infiltration. Whenever possible, we utilize waterbased (low VOC) waterproofing which is safer for the environment and our workers.
Before a shovel hits the ground, we get Alberta One Call to locate the underground utilities.
We lay plywood where we work to help keep your grass in good shape.
Digging takes place either by hand or mini-excavator.
To ensure worker safety, we install shoring to help prevent cave-ins. This is a critical task which many contractors don't perform, putting their workers in danger.
Weeping tile is inspected and replaced if required. It is also covered with approximately 12" of washed rock.
The wall gets cleaned either by pressure washing, scraping, or wire brush to help ensure proper adhesion of waterproofing.
We patch visible defects then hand apply elastomeric waterproofing.
The waterproofing is protected with rigid insulation, and backfilling takes place. It is replaced in "lifts" and tamped when possible.
We perform a general cleanup of the repair area and demobilize from site.
