Most foundation repair companies will subcontract basement window cutouts/enlargements, but we feel this is best completed by our professional team. With us, you have two options for egress windows. We can supply and install a window, or you can have your window contractor can give us a "rough opening" dimensions, and we'll cut your concrete wall for them to install their window.
Egress basement windows allow for added maneuverability in an emergency situation and as an added bonus, they allow more natural light to enter the basement. Whether it's a rental suite, a bedroom in the basement, or you just want to provide a safe exit in case of emergency, never overlook egress requirements.
Changes to the Alberta Building Code (as of November 1, 2015) mean that when an egress window is installed below grade, the window well must protrude at least 30 inches from the opening. This replaces the previous code which was 22 inch protrusion. Window wells require vertical drains, otherwise they are prone to flooding. If your window location doesn't have an existing vertical drain, we can install one for you.
The owner needs to decide what size of window they want. The estimator will give suggestions (and requirements) to aid in the window size selection.
We will remove the existing window and prep the area. We'll cut the rough opening in the concrete to accommodate the new window. We take the removed concrete to the recycler.
We will install the new window in the new or enlarged opening.
When required, we will also provide a new egress window well.
